Nutrition, Fitness and Health Writer, Trainer and Speaker

Filed under: Uncategorized — Russ @ 4:10 pm

Russ Klettke is making amends. Having spent more than a decade promoting Happy Meals (McDonald’s), little blue packets of artificial sweeteners (Equal/NutraSweet) and buttercream (Bunge Foods), he followed his heart to work on making the world and its people healthier. Here’s how he is doing it:

  • “A Guy’s Gotta Eat, the regular guy’s guide to eating smart”, by Russ Klettke with Deanna Conte, MS RD LD, Marlowe & Co. 2004. 2nd Printing. Available where books are sold and in more than 100 library systems in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
  • Regular exercise and nutrition writer for RealJock.com, American Fitness magazine, HairLoss.com and HubPages.com
  • Select articles are posted on this site here.
  • Certified fitness trainer, American Council on Exercise (2005, renewed in 2007).
  • Research assistant at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine; Study in Leg Circulation (how strength and treadmill training affects individuals with peripheral arterial disease), funded by the National Institutes of Health (2005-2008).
  • Personal trainer and group exercise instructor (2005 to present), West Loop Gym, Chicago.
  • Speaker on various nutrition and fitness topics; e.g., “How to maintain good eating habits while traveling”
  • Avid bicyclist and triathlete: More than 45 triathlons completed since 1987.

Does it make up for millions of Happy Meal hamburgers sold? Not yet. This is a work in progress.
